Vanir LT - Ultimate Shell

I was looking for a top quality hard shell trouser I could wear in winter and settled on these after much research. Great fit although I am a short leg (30") in most of my trousers and these are a tiny bit long, but this does not hinder my movement.
Windproof, waterproof, secure pockets, zip fly, braces and ability to vent with side zips or put on over boots by unzipping all the way up. I have been wearing them with base layer and soft shell in cold wet mountain environments and I have stayed warm and dry. My last trip up to Glencoe was -10 on the summits and I had on only a merino base layer legging, a thermal merino legging and the Vanir LT, I think I have found the perfect layering for me with these trousers, as I had plenty movement and stayed warm and dry on a snow covered mountain. I still wear a pair of gaiters under them as I found the built in gaiter on its own may allow some moisture to get past.
I have worn with crampons and have caught them a couple of times, inadvertently testing the kevlar, which passed with flying colours. I am very happy with these and look forward to many more adventures in them.

Vanir LT Great fit

Had my first pair of Vanir pants from the original line by Jottnar, they served me very well on many ski trips. Jottnar have continued to improve the range from the original line and have been more generous in the length of leg. Even better than the originals - chuffed.

Last line, Locked down :)

Bought these for days when the sky will be open and there will be nowhere to hide.

Normally im wearing soft shell trousers that will deal with some light showers and contact with some slushy snow, however there comes a point where softshell options will wet through.

I wanted a hardshell option to match my Odin Jacket, something beyond my Valen 4S, so bought these.

Been out a couple of times on rainy days and have kept warm and dry at all times. Have used the long side zips from the thigh down to act as vents when the skies cleared briefly, worked well and kept them on all day without issue with sweats/condensation.

Havent used the braces yet but these are a nice option. Kevlar instep protector and RECCO reflector are great :)

Vanir Eclipse

Purchased in March and used on a 5 day ski trip in Colorado. The pant performed very well against snow and trees. I'm 6 ft, 195 lbs, size Large fit me well. Internal gaiters fit perfectly over alpine ski boots and two way full length zippers made for easy venting on warmer days. Solid pant that I intend to use for many years.

Excellent Performance

This is the first time I have purchased Jottnar, I have used the Vanir LT Pant already on 4 munro trips in the Cairngorms in Scotland, lots of snow and ice, extreme wind and very cold. The Vanir LT performed flawlessly and without doubt they are the best and most robust piece of essential gear I have purchased and in my view worth the investment. The design and finish of the material is very professionally done and the material is waterproof and they also provide excellent performance keeping the chilling winds at bay, I highly recommend and would purchase Jottnar again based on my experience to date.
